About Us

The Santa Rosa Sailing Club is based in Santa Rosa, California, 50 miles north of the Golden Gate. We have been an active, family oriented club since 1953, and membership is open to anyone interested in sailing. We usually schedule over 30 days of sailing events, throughout the year. Our members’ boats range in size from the 8′ El Toro to 25′ bay racer/cruisers. Some of our members are always looking for crew, so you don’t need to own a boat to participate. We sail on lakes large (Lake Sonoma) and small (Spring Lake), Tomales Bay, the Petaluma River, and San Francisco Bay. We have non-racing, racing, and mixed events throughout the year.

Both members and non-members are welcome at all our events. Signups are encouraged and helpful for planning. Non-member must sign a liabilty waiver to participate in club events

Our “races” are really low-key events. If you have a sailboat or want to try sailing, come to one of our races. We will be happy to answer questions and help you get out on the water.

Some of us have room for an extra crew member where you could have a chance to sail with us. You can contact us through meetup or email if you want to pre-arrange a spot on a boat or just show up and see what happens.

We also have cruises scheduled throughout the year. These are day-long outings to interesting sailing spots in the North Bay or even the greater Bay Area. We meet together at the departure point, launch our boats, sail together (more-or-less) usually stopping somewhere fun for lunch, and then return later in the day. The length of a cruise depends on the weather, the venue, and how we feel. They are always an adventure.

Like races, our members often have extra room on their boats for guests. Hope you can join us.
