2011-2012 Frostbite Series

The 2011-2012 Frostbite Series takes place at Spring Lake on Sunday afternoons November 13, December 11, January 22 (note change), February 12, and March 11. There are 3 races per day, starting at 1:00 P.M. Note that we use the High Scoring System described in the Notice of Race. Thus, a score of 5 for a given race means that the skipper finished first (on corrected time) in a field of 5 boats for that race.

Detailed statistics

PRO: Fred Brass

Race Day #1, November 13, 2011: A nice day, with a gentle breeze. Wallace Whiting and Bill Daniel launched their boats but decided to let PRO Fred Brass return home to his MacGregor 26 shore-side duties. Wallace took along a potential member for crew, as the two boats rounded the island, sailed into the reeds, and generally had a great time.

Race Day #2, December 11, 2011: Bill Daniel and Jim Smith arrived with their boats, but decided not to paddle out to set the marks for a race that couldn't have started on this cold, windless day. So, no boats got wet today. Fred Brass, Jesse De Haven, Bill, and Jim spent the afternoon talking boats and drinking coffee flavored with amaretto, sherry, and brandy - - until 3:30 P.M. when they could honestly say that they had had a full frostbite day. A great time was had by all.

Race Day #3, January 22, 2012: Today's Frostbite Race Day was Canceled! After an on-site report from Jim Smith and communication with the most likely attendees, PRO Fred Brass canceled today's (1/22/2012) races. Too rainy, too cold, too bad.
